Abstract

This chapter describes school-based counseling in Australia recounting some background history. Current public education policies of national conformity, deregulation, mainstream integration and staffing, and their impact on school-based counselors are described. The limited effectiveness research on school-based counseling is presented, and what policy research questions should be investigated and by whom is discussed.
