How the 'what' becomes the 'how'

Abstract

Alan Turing has made a significant contribution to AI and computer science and on the future of these fields. In recognition of his works, ACM established the A.M. Turing Award given annually to researchers who excel on the same field considered by Alan Turing during his time. The age of electronic computers had barely dawned when Turing boldly and brilliantly envisioned their role as the medium for computational models of thought and their use as artifacts with intelligence. From Turing's works, it has been learned that envisioning is an important activity in science. It not only sets research directions, but also leads to important questions and motivations.
