Abstract

Forestry preparedness strategies for climate change are challenging. Governments are now developing plans to mitigate climate change by various schemes for regulating the emissions of green house gases, primarily in the form of limited emissions of carbon dioxide. This issue has become so politically divisive that actions to prepare for a changing climate are in danger to get lost in the emissions debate. Preparedness decisions in forest meteorology universally call for making predictions concerning future weather and climate states (see Box III.4.3). © 2010 Springer-Verlag Berlin Heidelberg.
