The goal of this article is to elaborate on a study done of female leaders in local sports management to further understand the existing diversity and to produce a tool of synchronic and diachronic comparison for future research with the same thematic. Based on a qualitative regional survey (group discussions and sixteen personal histories) we reproduce and expound the characteristics of four typical leader profiles paying specific attention to social relations based on gender and the ways these are transferred and shaped: the leader of circumstance, the elected representative, the activist and the passionate sportswoman. Each type reveals a position differentiated by the sexual division of labour working within the sports club management. The various profiles suggest that the leaders' position depends on values, standards and knowledge passed on within the various contexts of family, professional and sports. If the first two profiles confirm a form of reproduction of the male social order, the two others reflect the kind of change that's come about by feminine investment. These suggest minor changes but will become the future of sports management.
