Abstract

The article reveals possible ways of preserving traditional cultural values by means of introducing components of practical activity in the form of field expeditions into the process of professional training of future teachers-musicians. The folklore material recorded during ethnographic studies of the South Nizhny Novgorod Region in 2019–2021 is also considered. The ways of transmitting traditional singing from folklore carriers of one local zone to the participants of the educational team are highlighted. The preservation of the following song folklore genres for young people and adults has been revealed: historical, lyrical love, long-drawn Cossack, labor, dance songs, romances, spiritual poems; lullabies, verbal caresses, nursery rhymes, games, small spells, Christmas carols have been recorded from children’s genres. The transmission of tradition is carried out through musical folklore on stage. Song samples are processed and arranged and included in the repertoire of the educational vocal ensemble. In conclusion, the conclusion is formulated that a teacher-musician can become a translator of cultural traditions to the next generation, thereby increasing attention and emphasis on the process of educating young people.
