Abstract

The prevalent counterfeit drug distribution leads not only to a great loss in the sales revenue and the brand image of company but consequently to a rising threat to people's health. In order to root out such a malicious circulation, many advanced nations increasingly introduce and enact e-Pedigree (Electronic Pedigree) law based on RFID or serialized barcode symbologies to enhance the drug traceability in the pharmaceutical supply chain. This study is aimed to address solutions to streamline the drug distribution and secure people's health through the application of event-driven e-Pedigree system. © 2012 Springer-Verlag.
