Abstract

The search for alternate fuels has been stimulated by the environmental concerns about the emissions in exhaust from gasoline and diesel fuel engines. Urban air pollution due to the automobile is due to excessive production of CO, NOx, and hydrocarbons which in sunlight can give rise to ozone and smog. NOx is formed during all high-temperature combustions using air.
