Abstract

The debates within the Vienna Circle were carried out in an exemplary way. Whenever an important disagreement seemed to be present, reformulations of sentences were patiently tried out. Pseudodisagreements were eliminated and arguments formulated in a tentative way--as typically within circles of cooperating scientific researchers. It is my hope that this communicational "spirit of the Vienna Circle" will color the metaphysical debates on questions of "Lebens- und Weltanschauung". The members of the Circle did not accept the questions posed, for instance, by Spinoza. But I do and am looking forward to the increase of the influence of the spirit of the Vienna Circle in the debates related to basic questions of life.
