Throughout this volume a multitude of ethical dilemmas concerning the exhumation, analysis, curation or retention, display, and publication of human remains have been explored from a wide variety of contexts around the world. These considerations take into account not only complete skeletons, but also body parts, fragments of bones, their associated personal effects and/or artefacts, and their virtual form. The dilemmas encountered are wide ranging and with their own set of challenges, yet many of the themes raised by bioarchaeologists, anatomists, forensic anthropologists, archaeologists, museum curators, philosophers, and Indigenous communities are intertwined and recur again and again.
