Abstract

This contribution discusses a theme as complex and controversial as the use of bibliometric or informetric indicators in the assessment of research performance. It aims to spread light on the application context of these indicators. Its principal objective is to propose an application model for the use of indicators in the assessment of academic research, highlighting a series of analytical distinctions and useful building blocks, and to contribute in this way to enlightening and further developing the search for best practices in research assessment.
