Abstract

The tourism industry is a significant GDP contributor to almost all countries globally (10.4% on average in 2019). For every four new jobs that appear, it is recorded that one job is from the tourism sector. But on the other hand, this industry is also an industry vulnerable to the effects of crises such as economics, politics, disasters, and pandemics. Next, to determine how much influence the economy, politics, disasters, and pandemics have on tourism, it is necessary to conduct a comprehensive study of these effects by taking lessons from various events. Furthermore, the study will also discuss Borobudur in-depth and see the possible tourism growth trend after the crisis. Borobudur tourism has experienced good growth in a polynomial function, has slumped due to the Covid-19 pandemic by more than -75%. Lesson learned from the previous crisis, conditions will return to normal 3-4 years from the first impact of the pandemic. If growth is calculated from the lowest position during the pandemic, it is estimated that Borobudur tourism conditions will return to conditions in 2017 (peak conditions) in 2029.
