Abstract

The survival to hospital discharge after an out-of-hospital cardiac arrest due to cardiac disease is only 7% [1]. The continuous provision of information to the public and healthcare workers about cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) in the 1970s has led to a dramatic improvement in immediate survival from cardiac arrest. Survival to discharge after in-hospital cardiac arrest is 17-37% [2, 3]. © 2007 Springer-Verlag Berlin Heidelberg.
