So much for Jacopo’s algebra, its probable roots and its influence. However, since it seems likely that Jacopo has made use of an existing treatise on that subject, and since those treatises which appear to follow in his algebraic footsteps during the next decades are not particularly close to him on other accounts (with the partial exception of the Libro di molti ragioni), the algebra constitutes a case per se from which we cannot generalize.
