Abstract

Anionic products (anionic salts, Bio-Chlor™, NutriChlor™, and SoyChlor 16-7™) were fed to 12 non-lactating dairy cows and urine pH was monitored. The products differed in their effectiveness: anionic salts, Bio-Chlor, and Nutri-Chlor lowered urine pH, but SoyChlor was not effective. For cows fed once daily, checking urine pH 12 to 18 h after feeding is most likely to indicate nadir pH.
