Myocardial infarction in children often goes unrecognized. However, electrocardiographic criteria have recently been described for these patients; therefore, the diagnosis is more often considered and accurately assessed. Continued improvements in methods of evaluation, as well as increased awareness of physicians who encounter children at risk for infarction, should further improve diagnostic accuracy and increase the chances for an early recognition.
