Abstract

Our proposed methodology includes organic elemental and thermal analysis and IR and 13C NMR spectroscopy. In this case, the results obtained are the following set of quantitative parameters: mass fraction (%) of C, H, N and O in ash-free sample; the atomic ratio of H/C, C/N and O/C; and the relative content (%) of carboxyl, aromatic, aliphatic and polysaccharide fragments in the macromolecule. Outlines of the IR and NMR spectra and thermograms are used to assess the qualitative differences between humic acids.
