Abstract

Introduction: Low self-esteem is a factor that can negatively influence both academic performance, professional performance and personal development. Objectives: To determine the self-esteem levels in medical students of the Santa Rosa Del Aguaray Branch, Faculty of Medical Sciences, National University of Asunción. Methodology: This is a descriptive, observational, cross-sectional study, the Rosemberg Self-esteem scale was used, 78 medical students from the first and second year of study were surveyed. Results: A low percentage of Low Self-esteem was found with 24%, with a predominance in women in 68% and mostly in the second year of study with 58%. Discussion: the results found coincide with the literature in university students, although the influence on academic performance was not determined, this research could be continued to evaluate the same and other factors.
