Abstract

The paper first briefly reviewed the previous studies on microgravity coal combustion and then introduced an undertaking project on microgravity coal combustion consisted in Chinese space program SJ-10. Using the long microgravity time provided by the satellite, a set of experiments on the entire combustion process of single particles and pulverized clouds of a few kinds of typical Chinese coals are to be conducted. The scientific objectives of the project were introduced. An experimental system that can be used for multiple single coal particles and samples of pulverized coal cloud is designed. The main components of the experimental system are introduced.
