Abstract

Diels-Alder reaction is one of the most fundamental and important reactions for organic synthesis. In this chapter we review the studies of the π-facial selectivity in the Diels-Alder reactions of the dienes having unsymmetrical π-plane. The theories proposed as the origin of the selectivity are discussed. © Springer-Verlag Berlin Heidelberg 2009.
