Abstract

During the recent years, various bacteria and fungi have been investigated concerning their ability to degrade artificial polymers. This chapter reviews recent work on enzymes used for hydrolysis/oxidation of synthetic polymers and discusses their use in polymer surface modification. © 2006 Springer.
