Statistical Machine Learning and Its Applications

Abstract

This chapter aims to discuss some ongoing statistical machine learning methods and its applications by first providing a brief review of basic matrix calculations that commonly used in machine learning algorithms and computations. The chapter will then discuss the concept of singular value decomposition (SVD) and its applications of SVD in the recommender systems such as movie review ratings, and finally discuss the linear regression models.
