Abstract

Higher education is at the fore of most educational efforts in contemporary globalization. With the advent of the “knowledge society,” much attention is given to the importance of higher education, especially graduate education, as a means to sustainable development, international economic competitiveness, and the expansion of democratic ideals (World Bank 2002; EUA 2005).
