Abstract

The paper describes an agent-based system, MEDICAL_MAS, developed for medical diagnosis. The architecture proposed for the system includes mainly two types of agents: personal agents and information searching agents. Each type of personal agent corresponds to the humans involved in the medical diagnosis and treatment process (i.e. the patient, the physician, the nurse). The information searching agents are helping the personal agents to find information from the databases that can be accessed by the system (e.g. patients databases, diseases databases, medication databases etc). A case study is presented in the paper. © 2009 International Federation for Information Processing.
