Abstract

The purpose of this paper comprises the identification of the methodological perspectives applied in Occupational Safety and Health research, as a contribution to the social appropriation of knowledge, within the department of Tolima from 2010 to 2020. Methodologically, it is developed as part of a documentary review, studying the emerging relationships between qualitative, quantitative, and mixed designs and approaches, the characteristics of the population and sampling techniques, inclusion and exclusion criteria, data collection techniques, and instruments. As a result, trends were identified, with a significant inclination toward the mixed approach with 46 % of the studies carried out, followed by the qualitative approach with 30 %, and finally the quantitative approach with 24 %, each one with internal profiling. It is concluded that the delimitation of the problem, the treatment of the population and the choice of the instruments used, present challenges of methodological strengthening for the validity of the different studies on occupational safety and health.
