The article focuses on electronic books in libraries providing health sciences information. The author explores the implications of digital publishing for research in the education and clinical care fields. The article suggests that barriers to access to electronic books in libraries include availability, discovery, and functionality. Market dynamics in the publishing industry are analyzed and the author concludes that electronic health books are often too small in scope and not seamlessly blended into the existing information fabric to the average academic environment. Other topics include collections development, search engines, and moving print formats to electronic formats.
