Except for bubbling and circulating fluidized bed boilers, all other boilers use burners as the primary source of energy. The burner plays an important role in boilers as well as furnaces. The ignition of fuel and aerodynamic and combustion conditions in the furnace are all governed primarily by the construction and arrangement of the burners. The performance of the burner determines whether the combustion equipment will operate reliably and economically.
