Abstract

In most countries, especially in Latin America, boys are more likely to choose careers in STEM fields compared to girls. The gap exceeds 70%. The lack of role models, inspiration, motivation, and stereotypes contribute to widening this gap. In this work, we present some activities with girls and teenagers that we carried out as a student branch in a Peruvian university. The enthusiasm of the girls and the surveys' results of the post-workshops confirmed that the role played by the members of WIE (Women in Engineer) had a positive impact on the girls' lives, inspiring them to approach a STEM career.
