Abstract

In this chapter, Ann Cox examines the main psychotherapies that are currently in use in CAMHS practice. The skills the nurses are equipped with through their professional training enable them to easily transfer them into the therapeutic arena. Nurses have a good evidence-based understanding about relationships and developing good rapport with people. These skills are implicit when offering therapy. The further understanding that nurses will benefit from is having a good knowledge base of the therapeutic philosophies and models available to treat children and young people.
