A Statewide Model to Include Children with Visual Impairments in Physical Education and After-school Sports

Abstract

Over the past three years, New York State has taken steps to systematically train teachers, parents and children with visual impairments regarding the necessary steps to take to get involved in physical education and after-school sports. The purpose of this editorial is to share what has been done in New York in hopes that other states will adopt this model.
