Abstract

Acid mine drainage is acid water and it will flood a pit after exploration is completed. Active treatment of acid mine drainage in the void M4E-West by using quicklime create increased of pH value to become neutral-base. In the stagnant water, there is vertical stratification of water quality. This study aimed to identify the effect of change of depth toward water's pH and DO values in void water and analyze the influence of the environment on the water's pH value in the void M4E-West. This research method is to test pH, DO, and temperature in situ and taking water samples to determine Fe and Mn content in the laboratory. The results of research show that there is a decrease in pH over time, water's pH values are almost same in all over the depth and the variation of DO is affected by depth where increasing depth cause the value will be smaller. The condition of the soil pH around void affects the pH value of water in void M4E-West.
