Abstract

One of the abilities that the student must have to is problem-solving. Problem-solving is one of the activities in mathematics learning that train the student to think critically, logically, and systematically. Through these activities, students have the readiness to solve their problems in the future. This study aims to describe the mathematical problem-solving by students in grade eight. The type of research is qualitative descriptively with three subjects from grade eight middle school in Bulukumba. The indicator used to measure problem-solving ability is based on Polya's theory. To collect data, it was using problem-solving tests and interviews. The data analysis was using Miles and Huberman's theory. The result of the study shows the student's ability at a high level was able to meet all indicators, and the lower only got two or three of four.
