Abstract

Attempts have been made to develop friction factor relationships for rectangular channels similar to those available for pipes and cross-sectional shapes and these are reviewed. The present work also investigates friction factor behavior for channels with floodplains. The objective is to evolve friction factor relationships for compound channels in the hope that their use will lead to more accurate prediction of compound channel discharge capacity.
