Abstract

Since their introduction 25 years ago, the use and application of microarray technologies have grown rapidly, in large part due to their ability to screen a sample for hundreds to millions of different features in parallel (Science 251:767-773, 1991; Science 270:467-470, 1995; Genome Res 6:639-645, 1996; Nat Biotechnol 14:1675-1680, 1996). They have been widely adopted and are now used for a wide variety of applications, including to identify disease-associated features, to create biomarkers, and to obtain a deeper understanding of biological processes.
