Abstract

This chapter focuses on measurement techniques that have been used during experimental investigations of turbomachinery turbomachinery flow fields. These techniques are not fundamentally different from those used in other external flow studies. However, implementing them within turbomachines has introduced a series of unique and specialized issues in the preparation of the experimental setup, data acquisition, and analysis procedures. This chapter provides detailed information on the methods used to address these issues, along with a comprehensive summary on how they have been implemented to investigate complex flow phenomena within turbomachinery components.
