Abstract

The mineralization in this area took place in intertidal sediments enclosing the stromatolitic masses of a unit of the Roan supergroup and around similar masses. The primary sulphides show a vertical zoning with pyrite at the base and at the top of the orebodies and suggest a sequence of Cu and Co mineralization. The mineralization results from the mixing of interstitial water with metal-enriched brines which then migrated through sediments. Secondary enrichment took place.-R.E.S.
