Abstract

Studies of arachnid neurobiology have made considerable progress in the past 10 years. About 20 specialist authors have contributed to this book on the neurobiology of arachnids (mainly spiders). The first 3 chapters are devoted to the structure and development of the central nervous system in these arthropods, the next 7 chapters to the structure and function of the nervous system, the next 5 to senses and behaviour, the next 2 to the motor system (in spiders and scorpions) and the final chapter to the neurobiology of a biological clock in the visual system of scorpions.
