Abstract

Network virtualization is considered as a promising way to overcome the ossification of the Internet. However, one of major challenges in network virtualization is the virtual network (VN) embedding problem which is proved to be NP-hard. This paper presents a virtual network embedding algorithm based on Biogeography Based Optimization (BBO), which minimizes the resource cost as its objective. Simulation experiments demonstrate that the acceptance rate of VN and average revenue of SN are competitive in contrast with other heuristic embedding algorithms. © 2014 Springer International Publishing.
