Abstract

A key design challenge for any online course or program relates to the ways in which students will be able to assess their own learning (assessment for learning) and faculty are able to assess the students' learning (assessment of learning). Recent developments in both practice and technology are enabling new approaches to design and assessment, which in turn are leading to new credentials, new approaches to assessment in business programs and new ways of engaging potential employers in the assessment of students. These developments are described here and their implications are discussed.
