Abstract

Otherwise, we will end up with a number of short-term projects which are out on a limb from other services, under-funded and helping neither parents nor children. * co-ordinated policy should be developed at national and local level to support effective work and provide a basis for future development * funding and planning of projects should be co-ordinated both locally and nationally to ensure that there is neither duplication nor gaps in services * there needs to be a consistent approach in training professionals such as health visitors and nursery school teachers on the mental health needs of children and young people and parenting support Patterns of Parenting Support is available from the Mental Health Foundation, price £10.
