During these years, beginning from the discovery of the intracellular transport by Jamieson and Palade in 1967, a huge work has been accomplished in deciphering of the molecular mechanisms involved in the intracellular transport. Compared to what was known even 20 years ago, scientists have gai ned an extraordinary amount of information about the mechanisms of intracellular transport. A major part of the molecular mechanisms has already been unraveled. These insights have unified the several, previously independent subfields in trafficking area into a single coherent discipline - intracellular transport.
