Abstract

The gross distribution of heat flow for the Federal Republic of Germany is given on the base of 65 heat flow values. The heat flow distribution points to a correlation with major geological units, e.g., the sedimentary basins in northern and southern Germany. An anomalous heat flow zone seems to stretch from the Rhine graben in the southwest to the Braunschweig-Altmark region in the northeast following more or less the trend of Stille's 'Mediterranean- Mjosen' zone. -Authors
