Abstract

The paper is devoted to the results of experimental research on the measurements of acousticcavitation thresholds of ocean water in different regions of the World Ocean. Different types ofcavitation nuclei determing the tensile strength of ocean water are analyzed. Acoustic methodsfor measuring acoustic cavitation thresholds in ocean water are described. The results ofacoustic cavitation threshold measurements are presented for the water of the Atlantic Ocean, the Pacific Ocean, the Indian Ocean, the Arctic Ocean and some other regions of the WorldOcean, including the Arabian Sea, the Baltic Sea, the East Siberian Sea, the North Sea, thePhilippine Sea, the Sea of Japan, the Sea of Okhotsk and the South China Sea. Thesemeasurements were carried out at many ocean expeditions. It should be noted that acousticcavitation thresholds of ocean water have different values in different regions of the WorldOcean.
