With the breathtaking advance of ICT, and ultimately with Web 2.0, we may witness a very new phenomenon in relation toreading and literature, we get a new generation of readers-writers, with contemporary features and needs, andeducational institutions, especially the library, must rethink their strategies in training readers in the InformationSociety. This paper describes research on the school library and the use of social media (social networking) inencouraging the practice of reading, writing, and has as a main objective the proposal of a model for constructing socialnetwork of readers and writers for the 1st cycle of basic education school community. The Biblon platform is being worked upon during the empirical phase for the the Agrupamento de Escolas de Aveiro, Portugal, community. As to results ti it is expected to improve the quality and motivation for reading-writing, to expand the presence of contents in Portuguese
