Abstract

Office cystoscopy is a valuable tool in the evaluation of patients who present with lower urinary tract symptoms. Cystoscopy allows for a minimally invasive view of the internal lower urinary tract with relatively low morbidity for female patients. The goal of this chapter is to briefly discuss the indications for office-based cystoscopy and instruct the provider on how best to accomplish this in the outpatient setting. Also, detailed descriptions of the instruments needed to perform cystocopy are covered including both rigid and flexible cystoscopes. Lastly, a section that addresses potential complications and/or device malfunctions is offered along with suggested solutions.
