Abstract

The Quantra® QPlus® and QStat® Systems from HemoSonics, LLC are recent arrivals to the growing offering of viscoelastic testing (VET) technologies available for managing acquired coagulopathy and hemostatic derangement in multiple clinical settings. Utilizing a novel ultrasound clot detection technology called SEER sonorheometry, the Quantra System was designed to provide sensitive clot detection, easy operation, fast time to actionable results, and easy clinical interpretation of results. Results interpretation has been simplified by introducing an intuitive primary display that compares a numerical parameter endpoint to a visual reference in a familiar format, a dial. Patient management algorithms based on Quantra results have not yet been published but have been developed by early adopters and are in clinical use.
