Abstract

This 269-page book titled 'Biology of the stem cells and the molecular basis of the stem state' is a part of the series 'Stem cell biology and regenerative medicine.' This book focuses on adult stem cells, especially the mesenchymal stem cells. This book offers a detailed description of the emergence of stem cell research, particularly hematopoietic stem cells. This book also gives an insight into stem cell biology and the stem state. This book is organized into 8 chapters, each further organized into several subdivisions. The various chapters discussed include historical perspectives of stem cell research; tissue specificity; stem cell niche; common stem cell properties; stemness as a state in the cell's life cycle; the stem state in cancer; and stem cell based therapy in animal models and human related regenerative medicine among others. This book will be useful for researchers and scientists in the field of molecular biology and stem cell research.
