Abstract

The session on the empirical paradigm focused on two main aspects, (1) approaches for empirical validation and (2) exploration versus confirmation. The main conclusions are that the community has matured since 1992 but is still in a very early phase compared to other disciplines. Improvements were suggested, among others, with regard to realism of studies, quality of studies, and complementary usage of quantitative and qualitative methods. © Springer-Verlag Berlin Heidelberg 2007.
