Abstract

The effect of pore size for the adsorption of bovine serum albumin (BSA) and bovine serum fibrinogen (FB) in 0.9 % sodium chloride solutions was studied on non-modified silica gels, porous silica glasses and aerosil 300, and these modified with amine and vinyl groups. The adsorption was not reversible. Surface coatings did not influence the amount adsorbed of BSA in sodium chloride solution. The adsorbed amounts of BSA and FB depended upon the porosity of these adsorbents and were largest at pore diameters of 30 and 70 nm respec-tively. © 1989, Walter de Gruyter. All rights reserved.
