For a long time optical microscopy was held back by\ra presumed limitation: that it would never obtain a\rbetter resolution than half the wavelength of light.\rHelped by fluorescent molecules the Nobel Laureates\rin Chemistry 2014 ingeniously circumvented this\rlimitation. Their ground-breaking work has brought\roptical microscopy into the nanodimension.
