Physics teaching is important to cultivate students' scientific inquiry ability and innovation ability. Based on the recognition of context for physics teaching and the discussion on the theoretical foundations for the design of virtual laboratories for teaching, this paper reported the construction, characteristics, and application scenarios of a network virtual laboratory for physics teaching in high school. © 2013 Springer-Verlag.
